You described to the wildlife rescuer over the phone what you saw. That enabled the rescuer to bring some extra equipment to help you catch the injured duck. A short while later a rescuer arrived at the lake. You and the rescuer were able to capture the duck and remove
the fishing line from its wing. The rescuer took the duck back for observation and rest, and was able to release the duck back at the lake a few days later.
Your quick and responsible action had saved the duck's life.
