You filled the bath with water and put the ducklings in for a swim. Unfortunately, the ducklings had been without their parents for
sometime and therefore, had been suffering hypothermia. The water had now made it worse. They both died shortly after the swim.
Unfortunately, ducklings can not generate enough heat by themselves. They rely heavily on the parents to keep them warm at all time. The parents have oil generated from a gland on their tails that they use to keep the feathers water proof and in turn keep themselves dry and therefore warm. The ducklings rely on this for keeping them from freezing to death.
